Berlin, 4th - 6th of November 2009On November 4th, Jonas and Kathrin joined the opening of the Climate Lecture 2009: "The Economics of Climate Change" by Lord Stern at TU Berlin. You can find an English summary on our blog.

grün.derzeit at the Environmental Policy Research Center
Berlin, 29th of November 2009From November 29th until December 5th 2009 the workshop "Forging Closer Ties: Transatlantic Relations, Climate, and Energy" takes place at the Environmental Policy Research Centre at FU Berlin. Representatives of grün.derzeit will participate in it:
"The PhD Workshop will bring together PhD students and faculty from Freie Universität Berlin and North American universities to examine developments in transatlantic climate and energy relations."
grün.derzeit About to Meet Nobel Peace Prize Winners
Berlin, 10th - 11th of November 2009Representatives of grün.derzeit will participate at the annual summit of nobel peace prize winners. This year, the summit will be held in Berlin, from November 10-11.
Climate Congress of German Political Scientists
Kiel, 21st - 25th of September 2009From September 21-25, the German association for political scientists met in Kiel. Jonas participated at this conference which was entitled "Politics and climate change - no power for just solutions?"
Global Future Camp
Berlin, 18th - 19th of September 2009From September 18-19, a barcamp took place in Berlin. Jonas represented grün.derzeit at this open space conference on the topic global future. This event for NGOs was financed by Bertelsmann Foundation.
Non-profit Character Acknowledged
Dortmund, 6th of August 2008 Since August the 6th grün.derzeit is officially recognised as a non-profit association. The fiscal authorities of North Rhine-Westphalia have granted grün.derzeit the status of a non-profit association for the next 18 month to advocate nature and environmental protection.
Energy Safety in Europe
Konstanz, 6th - 8th of June 2008The 5th European Colloquium in Konstanz on the topic "Energy Managment in Europe: Torn between Climate Policies, Competition and Security of Supply" from 6th to 8th of June was joined by Hubertus Jürgenliemk, Assistant Head of Board of grün.derzeit.
About 60 selected students joined the discussion with representatives of the leading German and European energy corporatios and scientists as well as high-profile representatives of the private sector, the German government and the European Commission. The debate centered on finding solutions and meassures to decrease the growing consumption and demand of energy in German, Europe and the World and ensure sunstainability.Find more information on the European Colloquium here. grün.derzeit Interviewed for Green European Capital City Competition
20th of March 2008Jonas Dreger, Head of the grün.derzeit Board, was interviewed for a film clip promoting the Green European Capital City Competition of the European Commission. COWI A/S, a Danish consulting group, produces this clip with interviews of young Europeans.
Students of the College of Europe discussed the importance of green cities and possible improvements of existing cities. Jonas proposed a more decentral energy supply based on individual households, giving the citizens more independence. He also demanded more public and private schemes fostering individual action and innovations. The cut version can be viewed here.
Participation in the European Development Days
Lisbon, 7th - 9th of November 2007Head of Board Jonas Dreger participated for grün.derzeit in the European Development Days. The initiative of the European Union themed Will Climate change Development took place in Lisbon from 7th to 9th of November.
The European Development Days' forum aims at shaping and discussing common ways and strategies concerning the most important questions of development work. Top-class representatives such as Kofi Annan (nobel peace prize winning fromer general secretary of the UNO), EU commission's president José Barosso, Achim Steiner (UNEP) and Greenland's minister for the environment debated the consequences of global warming in development work with the two thousand participants.
grün.derzeit Is Born
Berlin, 19th - 21st of October 2007Seven out of the NGO's eleven members met on the 19th to 21st of October in Berlin finalise grün.derzeit's charter and officially bring it to life.
The founding event took place in the domicile of the Heinz-Schwarzkopf-Foundation, the charter was resolved and will presumably be registered in December. Also, the election for the first board was held. Jonas Dreger (Student at College of Europe in Brugge) will be Head of Board for the following two years, Hubertus Jürgenliemk (Student in Konstanz) was elected his assistant, Barbara Sennholz (Student at London University College) treasurer.
